ABOUT GOLD CAL JRS VOLLEYBALL CLUB

History of Gold Cal Jrs VBC

Gold Cal Jrs VBC was founded in 1999 when volleyball clubs, Team Flex VBC and Gold Trail VBC, combined.

Club Director & Owner Melanie DeMure

In 2000 Golden Hills VBC merged with Gold Cal Jrs VBC. At that time, Melanie DeMure became a volunteer board member. During her 5 years as a volunteer, Melanie developed the GCJ Training Team for athletes 12 and under, which is now the Junior Competition Team. Melanie purchased Gold Cal Jrs Volleyball Club in 2008 after the sudden passing of Gold Cal Jrs VBC co-owner Michael Giertych.

“Rest in Peace Michael, 1966-2008.”

Club Philosophy

Gold Cal Jrs Volleyball Club believes that success is a result of developing the players. Our desire is to provide opportunity for highly motivated volleyball players to further develop and enhance their skills through participation in USA Volleyball’s Junior Program. Gold Cal Jrs offer various programs depending on individual skill levels and the commitment of each player and team. We are dedicated to structuring programs that focus on providing the best possible opportunities for young athletes to develop basic and advanced volleyball fundamentals. Our commitment is to help young athletes achieve their individual and volleyball goals, ultimately achieving success and the overall goals for Gold Cal Jrs Club success.

Gold Cal Jrs Team Objectives and Goals

We hope to provide for each player, a positive experience. We would like every member of every team to feel good about their volleyball experience. We also would like for players to feel confident about themselves achieving inner excellence. Our intention is to promote winning attitudes, and an enjoyable, successful Club volleyball season.

We promote good sportsmanship and character, having skilled and professional coaches who seek to exhibit strong leadership qualities. We would like to develop these important athletic qualities for all of the Gold Cal players.

We focus on developing volleyball fundamental skills and advanced techniques. The Club strives to provide the best possible coaching staff to improve the player’s basic individual game and team fundamentals and to compete at the highest level.

We will seek to provide continuing education thru clinics, guest coaches, core strength training with additional opportunities for players and coaching staff to refine and develop their overall skills and capabilities.
